Promoting local Small Business

We love our local area and as a small business we’re keen promoters of our brilliant small businesses in the St Leonard’s on Sea community and along our lovely coastline.

Donating to the annual Christmas Lights campaign

We’re also committed to give an annual donation to the St Leonard’s Christmas Lights.

Partnering with the Environment charity (YPTE)

The environment and sustainability is important to us so we’ve made Pod Central into an energy-saving development as the pods are low energy and underfloor heating brings down the running costs. Other eco-friendly measures include LED lighting, motion sensor lighting as well as eco-friendly toiletries and recyclable bins.

In 2021 we’ve also formed a partnership with The Young People’s Trust for the Environment (YPTE) and will donate to the charity. Mia Preston, owner and managing director of Pod Central, says -

“I recognise the important work the YPTE does and we would like to support them in this way. It’s a charity which aims to encourage young people’s understanding of the environment and the need for sustainability and as a parent and a former teacher, I think this is vital. We want to help the charity continue their work and provide schools with free information and resources.”

Peter Littlewood, director, The Young People’s Trust for the Environment (YPTE) says -

“We want to thank Pod Central for its generous support, which will help us continue providing our educational services free of charge to young people and schools. This includes our wide range of classroom resources, lesson plans, home learning packs, online fact sheets, school talks and videos.”

About YPTE

Originally founded in 1982, the Young People’s Trust for the Environment is a charity which encourages young people’s understanding of the environment and of the need for sustainability.

The charity aims to give young people a real awareness of environmental problems such as climate change, disappearing wildlife, the pollution of soil, air and water, the destruction of rainforests and wetlands, the spread of desert regions and the misuse of the oceans. It provides schools resources such as lesson plans, printable fact sheets, videos and various downloads.

The charity’s materials provide balanced views to take into account the realities of the modern world.  Understanding our impacts on the environment and the steps we can all take to minimise them is vital for everyone to understand.  The need for awareness of environmental issues is greater than ever and young people are increasingly taking leading roles in tackling environmental issues.

YPTE aims to encourage and inspire more young people to live more sustainably and to ensure that future generations live in greater harmony with the natural world.
